1. Tell us about the institution, its credentials, MMS approval and affiliation ?
Mahavir Education Trust, established for the purpose of developing technical education, inaugurated the Engineering College in July 1984 with the help of munificent donations from the two main donors viz. Shri Lalji Velji Anchorwala and Smt. Shah Laxmiben Karamshi Bhujpurwala Charitable Trust. Both the donors belong to the Kutchhi Community and as per their wishes, the Engineering College is named as Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College .The A.I.C.T.E., Government of India and Director of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, has given permission to the College to start a “ DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES” and offer Master of Management Studies ( M.M.S) course, with an intake of 60 students. This permission is granted with effect from the academic Year 2008-2009. University of Mumbai has granted affiliation to the newly introduced course of M.M.S.
2. What are the facilities available ?
The Department of Management studies is being provided with state of the art facilities. An exclusive wing has been created in the extension of the new building in the complex of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College located at Chembur. The Management of the institution, keeping in mind the competition and the opportunities available in the market for managers, has provided a visionary direction and the present level of facilities surpasses many of the existing management institutions. A separate library has been created for the department of management studies in the new extension which is well equipped with the reading room for students & separate reading room for faculty. The department of management studies is also planning to provide online databases and other library facilities.
3. It is a new institute, will I be able to get learning experience under the guidance of able faculty members?
The Department of Management studies has already started recruiting faculty members. The Department of Management studies is planning to get the best visiting faculty members who are known for teaching the subject in leading institute. In addition to this the Department has also plan to invite guest industry speakers from our loyal recruiters and industry experts to provide relevant adequate update on current topics of management interest.
4. Have you planned anything for the first batch ?
The first batch will be inaugurated in july by Chairman of the Trust and an eminent industry experts. The Department is also planning to organize a three days workshop on communication skills, soft skills, Quantitative method, case method teaching & a tutorial for basic accounting practices.
5. Advisory Board for MMS?
The Department of Management Studies has constituted an advisory board with illustrious academician and industry experts. The board will meet thrice year to guide the department for the conduct of MMS program and also to promote the program’s visibility in the corporate sector.
6. Will I get Placement Assistance? What are the plans of the institute for summer and final placement?
The institute is very well geared up for taking up summer placements. The Engineering College of the institute had been providing placement facilities for many years & all the loyal recruiters will be approached for the opportunities for the summer placements.
7. Specializations planned for second year?
The Institute plans to have all the following specialization in the second year. Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Development and I.T. Management

The entire course are recognized and confirmed to mandatory requirements laid down by University of Mumbai from time to time. The credentials of an educational institution and its excellent is known from the fact that it is given “A” grade by NBA. The lecture will be imparted by full time faculty members, visiting faculty members & industry experts. The Department has also planned to introduce special modules based on industry requirements. |
